RECHARGE supports inter-governmental Initiative for More Climate Ambition
Advanced rechargeable batteries are a main enabler for the transition towards zero-emission mobility and decarbonized energy generation. They power an endless number of modern-life applications, such as smartphones, tablets, power tools and robots, and have become a significant job engine for millions of people around the world. Ensuring a sustainable development of the industry and that batteries’ environmental and social benefits are kept high, has, hence, not only become a business objective but a mission for the European advanced battery industry.
In this respect, RECHARGE and its members work together to help achieve the EU’s 2050 targets for a climate-neutral Europe and drive important initiatives in our focus areas: renewable energy, resource efficiency, low-emission mobility, product safety and responsible raw material sourcing. This is a continuous process and we believe in every step taken.
Our aim is a more empowered, sustainable and circular society. For this reason, we decided to support the inter-governmental Initiative for More Climate Ambition, launched in 2018 by Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen and supported by the Heads of State and Governments of Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, to help raise awareness for the need for more climate action.
